COVID-19 is still a thing. The ceremony will be indoors - as of February 2022 masks will be required. Fortunately the reception will be 95% outdoors (5% for bathroom breaks). We will be monitoring local and federal mandates as well as infection rates to determine if there are any further precautions we must implement. • Can you tell me a little bit about St. Brendan's Catholic Church?
We chose this church because of the connection we felt with the presiding priest and the community of St. Brendan. Coincidentally this beautiful church was also the filming site of (to name a few): Fight Club Spider-Man 3 Armageddon "November Rain" - Guns N' Roses *These links may contain spoilers. Parental guidance is advised.
  • I have never been to a Catholic Mass before - anything I should know?
Simply follow along (you will be told when to sit, stand, and kneel). If you have not undergone the Sacrament of Communion you can remain seated during this portion (there will be an announcement don't worry).
  • Why is there a time gap between ceremony and reception? What do I do during then?
There will be about a 1 hour gap between the ceremony and the reception. We have chosen to get married in the Catholic Church in which there are set times for weddings. The cocktail hour will begin at 4:25pm at the Houdini Estate. The shuttle will bring guests back to the Godfrey Hotel to allow for some downtime. You can freshen up, grab a drink, change shoes, etc. The shuttle will return at 4:00pm to pick guests from the Godfrey Hotel to the Houdini Estate.
  • Did Harry Houdini actually live on the Houdini Estate?
Harry Houdini, the magician, did indeed spend time at the Houdini Estate but did not actually own or live on the property. He would stay at the estate when he was filming in Hollywood. Fun Fact: According to the Houdini Estate his wife, Bess, threw a huge party with magicians and psychics at the estate to connect with her beloved departed husband.

  • Is there an after party?
Yes, it will also be held at the Houdini Estate. Due to noise regulations amplification of sound must end by 10pm. But don't worry, we have a way to keep the party going until 12:30am!
